Cubic Zirconium

What is
Cubic Zirconia?
Cubic Zirconia (CZ) is a laboratory created synthetic gemstone that mimics
the presentation qualities of diamond. High quality CZ has even fooled a
trained gemologist on occasion. Often referred to as a “fake diamond” or
a diamond substitute, CZ should rightly be regarded to as an optically
flawless man-made gemstone. Its high hardness (not as hard as diamond
but significantly harder than other natural gems) and high reflectivity
create a brilliant fire and sparkle. The most easily discernable
difference between CZ and real diamonds is their respective per carat
weights to size. A 2 carat weight size diamond replicated in cubic zirconia will weigh approximately 3.5 carats.
To the causal observer, the cubic zirconia gemstone appears identical to
a good quality diamond but with slightly less brilliance or sparkle than
a real diamond. All diamonds (except for extremely rare and expensive
flawless grade) contain impurities and inclusions. Cubic Zirconia
gemstones are flawless gems and are available in any color of the
rainbow including red, blue, yellow, amber, brown, orange, pink, green,
and violet to name just a few. |
